Apartment renovation, Lisbon
Lisbon historic center. Renovation of an uninhabited flat in a poor condition, small area, high ceilings, outside bathroom. The goal was to rationalize the space, provide modern amenities including a movie room.
A cleaning and refurbishing operation was effected which included the elimination of some walls. Hidden by layers of time usage, there was a good pine floor.
The first wall taken out contributed to enlarge the main living-room “also the cinema room”, favoring the whole flat in amplitude and bringing into play a long stone slab balcony across the whole building width, accessed by the three high glass doors of the new room.
The wall that divided two separate storage rooms was also taken out to create a new indoor bathroom. The outer bathroom was also restored.
Also the wall that divided the library from the kitchen was taken out to be replaced by a large wooden piece, cork insulated, designed for the purpose. On one side book space, on the other many of the kitchen amenities including refrigerator, microwave, wine storage, carving table and cupboards.
